Everyone meet Jared:

 

Here is Jared's story:

"I feel like I know you on a first name basis as I have been following your story since about January. I think the journey you are on is courageous and the inspiration you've given so many people is worth every congratulation, compliment, and accolade you receive. I know that's not what this about, but thank you for choosing to show people change is something we all can accomplish of we believe in ourselves and apply solid exercise and nutritional practices.

I was an overweight child from the age of about 10-20 years old. I was always active playing soccer, baseball, basketball, and practicing martial arts. But my eating habits progressively got worse as I grew up. By the age of 20, I was 5'10" and weighed 240 pounds and was very socially inept in many ways because I had zero confidence in myself.

In 1999, I decided to make a life changed and embarked on a journey to get in shape. In 8 months, I lost 65 pounds and was a healthy and fit 21-year old weighing in at 175 pounds. For the next 10 years, my weight stayed fairly consistent as I was able to stay within 10 pounds of my achieved weight.

But, as life got busier and more stressful, exercise and smart-eating exited the picture. By November 2011, I was back up to nearly 200 pounds and had lost any lean muscle I had gained 10 years previously. While I didn't feel like I was completing starting over, I was disappointed I had lapsed to this extent.

In conjunction with your "back to fit" journey, I decided the Monday after this past Thanksgiving to get this aspect of my life back on track. I decided it was time to be a happier me. The gym where I originally began my fit journey in 1999 was having a special Cyber Monday deal eliminating all start up fees and reduced monthly dues. In a sort of dumb way, it felt like fate was leading me back to this gym. On November 28th, I purchased my membership and on November 29th I made the best decision I've made for myself in really long time, committed to making myself happier. (Insert sore body comment here. I couldn't shower or stand up from sitting for about three weeks without having something ache. But it was the good ache).

I've also enjoyed making some of your recipes and especially enjoy the Thai Turkey Wraps.

I've gone from 197 pounds to 170 pounds since November 29th. I don't know what my previous body fat percentage was (I'm guessing high 20's), but I'm down to 11-12 percent now in hopes of reaching the elusive single digits. I've enclosed a picture I took on November 28th and one taken last night, April 18th. I tried to make them pretty identical poses so you can tell its me and my tattoo on my right arm shows in both pictures. Hate that tattoo, but got it at 18 (oh the irony of hindsight)!

Anyway, I'm a couple months shy of my 34th birthday and I'm in the best shape of my life. I'm hoping (and believe) any life obstacles and new developments (my wife and I are working on trying to have our first child) won't keep me from maintaining a more active lifestyle and healthier eating habits.
