As a size 2 and weighing 122 pounds on my wedding day almost 10 years ago, I never in my life would have imagined that I would jump to a size 14 after having 2 children.  Issues with my weight set in during my first pregnancy with my son.  I gained 60 lbs, and struggled taking it off.  After losing some weight, but gaining 40 lbs with my daughter, I struggled to lose the weight I had gained. Prior to having my daughter, I was diagnosed with a metabolic and insulin resistance disorder called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).  This condition made it difficult for me to lose weight.  I tried several diets, exercise programs and nutritional supplements, but it wasn’t until I was captivated and inspired by my husband’s childhood friend, Drew, who caught my attention and encouraged me to finally stick to a plan. 

I think a part of me was in denial that I had a problem.  In high school and college I was always playing sports and never had to worry about my weight, so when I finally did have issues, in my mind I was still thinking I could eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and wouldn’t be affected.  PCOS doesn’t help when the condition actually causes you to crave carbohydrates, sugar, and to often times never feel full.  Yet I had an opportunity to change and I took it!  I started my journey following Drew’s diet and meal plan to a T on Jan. 2, 2012.  Within the first month I had lost 8 lbs and 5 inches total.  I wanted to keep going!  With his support, I stuck with it and I have lost 30 lbs, a total of 29 inches everywhere and I have gone from wearing a size 14 to a size 8!  I still have 25 more lbs to go to get to my final goal, but through this process, I’ve gained confidence and have come to accept that I have PCOS and can help others who are going through similar situations by creating my own website.  My website is called  It includes Drew’s meal plans and exercise programs along with other valuable resources and support.  I believe that the first step to change comes when you understand what someone is going through. I truly understand what women with PCOS are going through.  I can’t thank Drew and Lynn enough for their sacrifice.  They are by far some of the kindest people I know, and I couldn't have done this without them!
